who give joy to lord vishnu (as his sister)
and who is praised by Indra.
(Salutations to the goddess) who is the consort of the one who has Blue Throat (Lord Shiva),
for whom all the creation is one big family,

crushed the demons Chanda, Munda, and their soldiers.

which is created to captures the tense, eagerness in the war ground.

that was resounding with deep sounds Dhudukuta Dhudkuta indicating the completion of war

(Salutations to the goddess) whose glory had removed the worldly attachments of the King Suradha
and Merchant Samadhi and had their mind on you,

Knowing that when a devotee washes the place where your attributes are exhibited (place of worship)
with water from river which is shining like gold and flowing Softly,
will he not feel the joy of your all-embracing grace contained in your Pitcher-like bosom?
(Therefore) I take refuge in you feet, O Vani (Devi Mahasaraswati),
O Eternal Vani (Devi Mahasaraswati), in whom resides all auspiciousness,
victory to you, victory to you, the destroyer of mahishasura,
the one with beautiful-braided hair, the daughter of the mountain. ||19||
तव विमलेन्दुकुलं वदनेन्दुमलं सकलं ननु कूलयते
किमु पुरुहूतपुरीन्दु मुखी सुमुखीभिरसौ विमुखीक्रियते ।
मम तु मतं शिवनामधने भवती कृपया किमुत क्रियते
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते ॥ २० ॥
tava-vimalendu-kulam-vadanendu-malam-sakalam-nanu-kula-yate
kimu-puruhutta-puri-indu-mukhi-sumukhiibhir-asou-vimukhi-kriyate
mama-tu-matam-shiva-naama-dhane-bhavatii-krpayaa-kimuta-kriyate
jaya-jaya-hey-mahishasura-mardini-ramyapardini-shailasute ||20||
(Salutations to the goddess) whose moon-like face is the abode of spotless
and stainless purity which certainly subdues all impurities,
Otherwise, why have my mind turned away from the
moon-faced beautiful ladies like those present in swarga?
according to my opinion; without your blessing,
how is it possible to discover the treasure of Shiva's name within us?

अयि मयि दीन दयालुतया कृपयैव त्वया भवितव्यमुमे
अयि जगतो जननी कृपयासि यथासि तथानुमितासिरते ।
यदुचितमत्र भवत्युररीकुरुतादुरुतापमपाकुरुते
जय जय हे महिषासुरमर्दिनि रम्यकपर्दिनि शैलसुते ॥ २१ ॥
ayi mayi dina-dayalu-taya-kripaya-iva-tavayvaa-bhavitavyam-ume
ayo-jaato-jananni-kripayassi-yathaasi-tathanu--mita-asira-te
yad-uchitam-atra-bhavatyurarii-krutaa-duru-tapam-apaakurute
jaya-jaya-hey-mahishasura-mardini-ramyapardini-shailasute ||21||
(O goddess) you Must bestow your grace on me,
O mother Uma, who is compassionate to the miserable,
O mother of the universe; just as your grace is showered (on the devotees),
In the same manner are your arrows scattered (on the enemies) (destroying their egos),
please do whatever is appropriate at this time, O worshipful mother,
to remove the sorrows and afflictions (of the world) which has become difficult for me to bear,
victory to you, victory to you, the destroyer of mahishasura,
the one with beautiful-braided hair, the daughter of the mountain. ||21||
